Macbeth in Real Life vs. Play

In William Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth is known as a murderer and horrible king of the Scots. Also, Macbeth in Shakespeare’s telling did not kill the king Duncan but attained murderers to complete the task. But in reality Mac Bethad mac Findláich, Macbeth’s real name, according to BBC “killed the ruler king, Duncan I, in battle near Elgin, Morayshire”.
A similarity between Shakespear’s and real life is that Macbeth was challenged by Siward, Earl of Northumbria, with the intention of returning Duncan’s son to the throne. Later on in the battle of Lumphanan in Aberdeenshire Macbeth was killed and died sometime in 1054.
